Course Overview

Olympus University is pleased to present an innovative training program on Surgical Endoscope Reprocessing. The Surgical Endoscope Reprocessing Trainer program is designed to provide Olympus surgical endoscope customers with the tools and information necessary to establish training protocols and quality assurance programs for endoscope reprocessing within their hospital or region. It also provides detailed training on endoscope handling, care and maintenance and reprocessing of flexible, semi-rigid and rigid surgical endoscopes. This program is conducted in our training facility in Markham. Attendees are eligible for continuous learning hours if this course relates to your specialty.

The complexity of reprocessing endoscopes demands a standardized approach that is consistent, procedure after procedure. This 2-day program provides a theory and a practical component. It provides detailed information on Endoscope construction and nomenclature, Microbiology and Infection Control, Quality Control measures, reprocessing recommendations, competency checklists and hands-on training on endoscope reprocessing.

Learning Objective

Identify the steps required to implement a continuing education/quality assurance program for your facility or region.

  • Provide the tools necessary to validate competency of all individuals responsible for the reprocessing of surgical endoscopes and accessories.
  • Discuss endoscope terminology and nomenclature, common surgical procedures and related anatomy.
  • Review Olympus reprocessing recommendations and techniques for surgical scopes.
  • Identify correct and incorrect reprocessing techniques.
  • Provide precise training on manual reprocessing of Olympus surgical endoscopes.

Certification

Nurses may claim this course as 14 hours of continuous learning (CL) activity toward renewal of their CNA certification credential if it is related to their nursing specialty. Preauthorization from the CNA Certification is not required. Participants are encouraged to retain a confirmation of attendance.

Cancellation Policy

  • If you cancel up to 30 calendar days prior to the start date of the course, you will receive a full refund of the course fee.
  • If you cancel within 14 calendar days of the course start date, you will receive a 50% refund of the course fee.
  • If you cancel less than 14 calendar days of the course start date, no refund will be issued.
